Let the Birthday Festivities begin. This is always a busy time of year for us. Birthdays, Easter, baseball season. It goes by in a blur. {82/265}: She loves to look at my "families" book. All those albums I've made over the years. They are her favorite picture books. A girl after her my ownheart. {83/365}: The boys are not very big readers. Much to my chagrin. I loved books at their age. Still do. I guess it's a boy thing. Josh never reads either. Unless it's ESPN something or another. But for some reason, this is Cameron's favorite book. He bought it at a book fair last year. It's a book about baseball. No surprise there. The funny part - it's a non-fiction book about a team of baseball brothers from the 1940's. {84/365}: This is a sample of what I spend my days looking at. Might seem a little boring, but I actually enjoy it. {85/365}: Potty training days. Lord grant me patience. I had just yelled at her because she likes to waste my toilet paper and wipe when she hasn't even peed yet. She was about to burst into tears. {86/365}: I find myself constantly saying "Alright, boys." Or, "Let's go, boys!....Get in the cars, boys!....Boys, time to eat!" I have to remind myself to add "And girl!" {87/365}: Thank God for washable crayons. Oh, and this picture makes my door look very dirty. I think it's the lighting? {88/365}: School on Saturdays. The downside to snow days. The upside? Mommy gets to visit and watch Jackson give his Science demonstration. {89/365}: Cameron's 7th birthday.
Birthday breakfast. We had a family lunch at Pizza Hut. That's 13 adults and 8 kids. That's a decent sized family. I think Cameron had a great birthday. P.S. If you were paying attention, I only had 6 candles in the house this morning.

My middle child. My baby boy. He was my biggest baby at 9lbs, 5 oz. His was an easy pregnancy and an easy delivery (despite his size). He was the best infant, and by far the worst toddler. He is the one that gives me the most grief. He is the hardest to figure out, the one with the deepest emotions. He loves basketball. And LeBron James. And Nike Jordans. He has the most patience with his little sister but not as much with his big brother. And yet, if anyone messes with Jackson, they will regret it. He is the toughest little boy I know. And the coolest kid, too. He stopped playing with toys. I don't know when it happened. Nowadays, it's sports, nerf guns, and video games. He loves to play outside, doesn't even care if it's cold. He prefers to throw a football or play HORSE in the driveway. Anything sports related. But long gone are the days of action figures and legos. The other night, at his sleepover, I noticed a bunch of his friends had stuffed animals they had brought along with them. Cameron has not slept with a "lovey" since he was 4. (Except he still prefers to sleep in "Mommy's bed") He has outgrown it all, and it makes me so sad. He is only seven. Yet he thinks he is so much older. He has the neatest handwriting. And loves it whenever I tell him that. He still loves to be tickled and to wrestle with Daddy. He is a natural at all sports, especially on the baseball field. I love to watch him. I love those rare moments when he is talkative. When he forgets that he's trying to be cool and he's just a 6 year old who still asks me to sing to him at bedtime (even if it is just a ploy to stay up a few more minutes). Friends : Cameron, Russell, & Nate
"What they don’t know is my dad and me–
We drove her out to Tennessee And she’s still here and now he’s gone So I hold on." - Dierks Bentley. This part of this song makes me think of my Dad every time I hear it. The things we hold onto. I wish I had his truck. Or more of his stuff. I don't have a lot. But thankfully, I do have pictures. Because memories do fade over time. It has been 3 1/2 years since he passed, and already I have to really struggle to picture his face, his hands, the dark hair on his knuckles, his feet, his toes that I inherited. His back. He always mowed the lawn shirtless. I inherited his love for the sun, and his fair skin that easily burns. He always wore crew socks with shorts, when it wasn't so popular. He loved music, just as I do. Thanks to him, I love oldies and old Country (Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash, and Keith Whitley). I look in the mirror and see his face almost every day. The laugh lines around my eyes, the shape of my eyes. My smile, my chin. Even my nose. All my Dad. I wish he could see how much I look like him now that I am getting older. Just remembering him today. And thankful for pictures so that my kids will know what he looked like. And see the resemblance in themselves. I have this really awesome co-worker who does something special for the office every Friday.
This particular Friday, she made "virgin" margaritas and daiquiri's for us. 9 boys. Ages 7-11. What were we thinking, right? We've done sleepovers for birthdays twice before for Jackson. Cameron has wanted to have one forever, but he was just always too young and I didn't know if the other kids' parents would want their boys spending the night out either. Well, his day had finally arrived. He wanted a Miami Heat basketball party. I was pretty happy with invitations I found on pinterest. The rest of the decorations revolved around the Heat colors : orange, red, and black. And basketball (which was fitting since all the boys invited were on his basketball team). Lucky for us, it was a beautiful Spring day, which is something we very rarely get for Cameron's birthday (which is actually not for another week). The boys had baseball practice earlier that day. Cameron, Bella & I took a trip to Party City for some last minute items. Cameron picked out his candles. He liked it because, not only was it his name, but there are 7 letters in his name AND he is turning 7! Perfect, right? Of course, the boys started off the party with a game of basketball. We moved the party inside for some pizza, cupcakes, and Orange Crush. Then, Daddy hosted his favorite - Nerf Gun Wars. The boys were assigned teams by picking names out of a hat, and they had the entire house as their arena. They had a blast, and played for hours. Breakfast was pancakes and cinnamon rolls. Yes, more sugar. The next day, we had our first Cannons Sunday league baseball game. The weather wasn't so nice, and the boys were obviously pretty tired. But it was such a great memory for Cameron and the boys. I think they really enjoyed themselves. Such a great group of kids. I hope they stay close for years to come.
{75/365}: Goodie bags from Gabe on game day!! {76/365}: St. Patricks Day. Well, that makes perfect sense! And sounds just like Cameron. {77/365}: My mom took me to the E.R. and all I got was this stupid band aid. {78/365}: Homework. {79/365}: March Madness around this house is a big deal. Josh even made us a steak dinner with red potatoes and Brussel sprouts. Go Blue! {80/365}: Checking out the new uni's for the Cannons he ordered (and designed himself). They're pretty sweet. {81/365}: So we made it. One down, one to go.
Cameron's sleepover was a success. No fighting, no broken bones, no tears. Everybody got along great. Stay tuned for post and more pictures. |

AuthorMy name is Kaci. I am a working mom of 3. Wife to Josh. Mom to Jackson, Cameron & Isabella. My life is dinner, homework, baseball, basketball, grocery lists, laundry, middle school, wine, video games, and schedules. I started this blog because I love taking pictures, and I needed a place to document our life. I wanted a place to write it all down, to remember little details so easily forgotten in the mad rush that is the life of a family of 5. Through my photos and words, I endeavor to capture our story.
